Danilo Jokić announced today that Health Minister Vojislav Šimun's decision on his dismissal is scandalous and shameful.
This morning, Šimun dismissed Jokić from the post of director of the Podgorica Health Center, and instead of Jokić, Dr. Dragana Durković Perović, a long-time specialist doctor at that institution, was elected.
"Mr. Minister, for three years I have been at the head of the DZ institution of the Capital City, which was and remains a mine of the health system. When I was elected, there was not much competition for the position of director, there was a Covid 19 pandemic and, unfortunately, people were dying. I had "It's unfortunate that the Board of Directors of the DZ includes people who are first directors, and only then colleagues-healthcare workers", Jokić pointed out in the announcement.
He added that in Šimun's dismissal, on several pages, there is nothing clear and worthy of attention except for the clear sentence that he was dismissed.
"The reasons are buried in metric explanations, mostly; lack of communication with the Board of Directors, which for three years regrets being a "Board" and wants to be a "Director". to pay handsomely. However, among those people there were also a couple of professionals, people of dignity, who did not participate in the chase to the detriment of the profession. Most wanted the director of the Health Center to be dismissed because I had a life and professional attitude. I could have given up on myself , from the vocation I have been engaged in for years and participate in something that is unacceptable for a man and a doctor. Perhaps someone more practical would agree; I, however, decided not to trade. You ministers began to change. I suspected that you would have any reason justified and sufficient. Let it be so, but let's understand each other: directorship and ministry are not the essence of our calling. Both can fit into one wrong decision, but a man and a doctor cannot fit into an initial and a paragraph," said Jokić.
He said that this "trial", which lasted almost as long as his mandate, is over - changes in healthcare are here.
"Changes? It will unfortunately turn out to be miserable compromises that many of the creators of "persecution" wanted, and ordinary people were afraid of. I am obliged to thank the closest team of my associates who, together with me, bore the hard the burden of managing the Institution, which we found in a state of "private ownership". Neither you, nor the previous cabinet convocations, succeeded in disuniting us. However, it was difficult, with all the setups and stumbles, to make this Institution better and of higher quality. I am sorry that As a young man, you have shown that politics is above your profession. However, I await your political punishment with complete certainty that it is revenge for the good done. There are many such examples both in the profession and in politics, and I am honored that you start with me," he said is Jokic.
He said that he has been a doctor for too long to deal with it in detail and forget what the essence of his calling is.
"If you asked me to resign just once, but humanely and professionally, I would submit it with the joy of someone who understands both life and innovative processes. I would do it to show my young colleagues that there is no point in getting a doctorate in management before learning the medical alphabet, before you build yourself up as a reliable person and a professional. I was not asked to resign but to accept guilt that does not exist; this will be proven in court. Your dismissal decision is scandalous and shameful and I will not comment on it, but the legal unsustainability will be easily proven both in front of laymen and in front of the professional public. And I will teach you; scheming in my life's calling and yours, in a profession with the oldest oath among professions, is a challenge that fascinates individuals more than any good news from the world of medicine," said Jokić.
According to him, he is leaving the debt-free Health Center to his successor, but, as he added, "unfortunately, the same Board of Directors, people who want to trample on a man when they don't already have the knowledge to help him."
"Even today, I wouldn't do it differently, regardless of the consequences. Even today, I would rush to contribute to the good, for donations, which made the Health Center a better place to work and provide services to patients. With me, the minister, there is no regret or need for justification. I did my best what I could and did with people who were able and wanted to do it," concluded Jokić.
