People in Bjelopolje are looking for lower bills and heating

Air pollution in Bijelo Polje, which in December exceeded that of Pljevlja, is one of the reasons that the local Council for Environmental Protection will again turn to the competent state institutions to help solve the problem.

This was decided at a session whose topic was air pollution in Bijelo Polje during the winter months.

In December, exceedances were recorded for 22 days (two more than in Pljevlja), and in November, very high concentrations of PM 11 particles were measured on 2,5 days.

Due to the importance of the problem, the Council for Environmental Protection will organize a panel discussion on the topic "The problem of air pollution in the area of ​​the municipality of Bijelo Polje", on February 7 in the hall of the Municipal Assembly, starting at 12 noon.

In the conclusions that will be sent to the President of the Government of Montenegro, the Ombudsman, the Eco Fund - Environmental Protection Fund, the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Center for Environmental Testing, the Parliament of Montenegro - Committee for Tourism, Ecology and the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology, it is proposed to adopt urgent measures: opening of the Office for Environmental Inspection in Bijelo Polje, subsidizing the reduction of bills for electricity consumption for the citizens of the municipality of Bijelo Polje for the heating season by 30 percent, subsidizing the replacement of solid fuels with environmentally friendly fuels, passing the Decision on the declaration of public interest "Bijelo Polje heating project ", in order to reduce air pollution, as a long-term measure.

During the session, it was announced that in Bijelo Polje, especially during the heating season, the limit value of the average daily concentration of PM10 particles is exceeded in the air.
