The staff of the General Hospital in Bar is absolutely up to the task and shows a desire to actively participate in the development of healthcare in this part of Montenegro, said Deputy Prime Minister for Work, Education, Health and Social Policy Srđan Pavićević.
Pavićević and Health Minister Vojislav Šimun visited the hospital in Bar today, after which they said they were "pleasantly surprised" by what they heard and saw.
"The meeting took place in a cordial, collegial and substantive conversation with the director Dr. Igor Karisik and the medical staff of the hospital, after which the guests visited all the important points in the hospital," announced the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Pavićević, explaining the purpose of the visit, said that at the beginning of the Government's mandate, an extensive project of visiting all general hospitals and medical institutions was agreed upon.
"Our need was to make sure on the spot about everything that is happening in the world of medicine, primarily at the secondary level, to get a clear picture of the real state of affairs because we don't want to be guided by comments, random impressions and perceptions," he said. is Pavićević.

When asked by journalists about their impressions, both the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Health "confirmed that they were pleasantly surprised by what they heard and saw, especially since this hospital was going through a very challenging period in the past few years," the announcement states.
"As for the Bar hospital, I personally expected a completely different situation, after everything that has happened in the last few years. I have to say that today in Bar I am very pleasantly surprised by a quality structure, preserved space and technological equipment, a staff that is absolutely up to the task and shows a desire to actively participate in the development of healthcare in this part of Montenegro. I think it's about people who are great enthusiasts and whose contribution will be visible as well," Pavićević said.
In addition to already implemented and ongoing projects, he praised "the way of management" in terms of active use of European funds, "which deserves special respect".
"We have not come across this kind of approach to available funds in the rest of Montenegro. Along with the hospital in Bijelo Polje, KBC Berane and the hospital 'Vaso Ćuković' in Risno, General Hospital Bar joins the gallery of medical institutions that have a development vision and the willingness to realize it, with the fact that it is the hospital in Bar that has advanced the most on this path, thanks to its capacity to withdraw funds from European funds. This makes us particularly happy and gives us hope that other medical institutions will follow that path,'' Pavićević told reporters.
He also praised the plans regarding the expansion of the triage and reception block with more content and better technical equipment, the planned acquisition of a larger number of dialysis machines, as well as the creation of a hemodialysis center. "With these projects, the General Hospital meets the tourist economy of Bar, taking care that people spend their summers where they feel safe and where they can be well taken care of," the announcement reads.

Šimun, when asked by journalists about his impressions during this visit, repeated that they gained very positive impressions and emphasized:
"What particularly surprised and impressed me was that this team was capable of realizing a number of IPA and Interreg projects, something that even much larger centers in Montenegro cannot boast of. Three projects have already been implemented so far, and what is particularly pleasing is the announcement that 6 more projects are planned in the future, which are in a mature stage. The expansion of the emergency block, the reception department with a magnet, I especially highlight as priority projects. As a gynecologist, I am particularly pleased with the 'baby friendly' project and the new operating theater in the gynecology department, i.e. maternity hospital. After a difficult period for the hospital in Bar, we are definitely witnessing the restoration of its reputation, and this is something that is our general impression,'' said Šimun.
