The civil movement URA made public today a series of baseless claims according to which, as they said, the Directorate for Emergency Situations "did not cope" in the fight against the recent fires, according to the general director of the Directorate for Emergency Situations of the MUP, Mirsad Mulić.
Mulić believes that the URA did not offer "a single piece of evidence" for the claims made, so he says that they are politically motivated and "obviously inspired by the intention to devalue and minimize everything that the state has done in protecting against the consequences of more than 1.300 fires that occurred during July and invaded Montenegro at the beginning of August."
"Also, it is more than clear that this political act is motivated by the intention to present the protection and rescue system as dysfunctional and its subjects at the state level as incompetent, all for the sake of a few political points that the citizens will certainly recognize. However, the reality is completely different," adds Mulić.
As he notes, Rudović, who spent a good part of his career in journalism, "so far with more success than in politics", certainly knows what claims are and how long the road is from a claim to a proven fact. Therefore, he believes, Rudović should offer the facts and, according to Mulić, no evidence has been offered as confirmation of something that would be an indisputable fact.
"The most important thing is that in these over 1300 fires, no one was injured or killed, the infrastructure was not damaged, except for one small building that burned down, and there was only one evacuation that was carried out impeccably. I am responsible for my work to the Minister of the Interior and the Government of Montenegro and I responsibly assert that the planes of the Air-Helicopter Unit of the Ministry of Interior operated by four pilots (three in permanent employment and one under contract) always acted in accordance with the requirements of local protection and rescue services when meteorological and other requirements were met. conditions for a safe flight, and that is the only truth," Mulić said.
As for the formation of civil protection units, he invites the representatives of GP URA to read the Law that deals with this issue. With the beginning of the application of amendments to the Law on Protection and Rescue from July 1, 2017, he reminds, a higher quality normative basis was created for the formation of civil protection units, for the organization of which it is necessary to create a number of preconditions in the future.
"The fact that everyone was on Luštica: the protection and rescue services, with which the Directorate for Emergency Situations always has correct cooperation, the Police Directorate, the Army of Montenegro, the Maritime Safety Directorate, the Port Authority, citizens, voluntary societies, international aid. Having adopted the Information on Fires , the Government of Montenegro has assessed that the system has responded adequately and that an analysis must be done that will show possible omissions and assess whether the existing organizational model for carrying out protection and rescue operations is adequate," Mulić states.
From all of the above, he adds, it is clear that there are no facts that would support the request for resignation, except, as assessed, politicians' claims.
"I hereby also inform the public that I will no longer give answers to political evaluations of the work of the Directorate for Emergency Situations, but that I will continue to do my job in the interest of the citizens," the announcement concludes.
