State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation Dragan Bojović said that the department is negotiating with the Education Union and that an adequate solution will be reached.
As he said, the meeting was scheduled for Wednesday due to the obligations of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance.
"We, as the Ministry of Education, insist and believe that an agreement will be reached. We insist and I think it is not disputed that there will be an increase in wages. I think that this is more about insufficient compliance, in the sense of how that increase will come about. It is not disputed that there will be This is why it is not good for children to suffer, to go on strike, if we all have the same intention and if we all want to improve the position of educators. We want to reach a solution in the spirit of good dialogue and negotiations, because the intention is identical." , said Bojović.
He said that the coefficients should be reconciled.
"There is an intention, I know, to change the Law on Salaries in the Public Sector due to the huge disproportion that exists between the coefficients in the public sector. The increase is not disputed. What is disputed is that the gross coefficients are now defined because of that general strategy that does not concern only educators".
Bojović emphasized that the Government of Montenegro must find a systemic solution to the problem.
Responding to a question from a journalist from ND "Vijesti", Bojović said that the claims of the President of the Education Union of Montenegro, Radomir Božović, that educators are not a priority for the relevant ministries, are not correct.
"There are a thousand things we are working on. There are many things in progress. It is not only salaries. Of course, they are important. We need to improve the position of educational workers as a whole. We also need to work on working conditions," explained Bojović.
Bojović said that the Ministry of Finance cannot give an answer to the Education Union about the coefficient because of the "systemic nature of the work done according to the law".
The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, said that everyone has a "constitutionally guaranteed right to strike".
He pointed out that he was concerned about the "economic environment of salaries" and said that the average salary in education is below average.
"I understand the need for educators to do what they do. It has come to a worrying moment in the country. The curriculum must be brought to an end. Everything that is not done, will have to be done. An appeal to the Government of Montenegro to more responsibly enter into discussions with the Trade Unions and to take a more responsible approach to the problem that must be solved for the sake of children, parents and education," said Milatović, adding that he did not want to "get involved in the work of the Government".
He noted that the situation must be resolved, and that the least important thing is who is to blame.
"I call on both sides to approach this responsibly, because the whole society will suffer".
