At the University of Montenegro, salaries are calculated on the basis of valid legal acts, the Collective Agreement of the UCG and valid regulations, it is stated in the reaction of that higher education institution regarding today's media announcements.
Today it was announced that the teaching associate at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality received his January salary in the net amount of 5.985,08 euros. According to the data of the Ministry of Finance, which published a list of the 2.000 highest salaries, this is the highest paid from the budget for the month of January. Also, in the same period, 5.373,33 euros were paid to a full-time professor on the Philosophy account.
"In the publicly published data on the salaries of teaching staff, the amounts include, in addition to the basic salary, and allowances for activities from the previous period, which is often longer than 12 months, such as membership in commissions for the defense of master's theses, mentoring in the preparation of master's theses, mentorships in the preparation of doctoral dissertations, activities within the implementation of numerous projects, from national and EU funds," the response states.
They said that the engagement and activity of individuals that resulted in higher amounts in the publicly presented data do not reflect the picture of the basic salary, which, as they point out, is much lower than shown.
"We are talking about variable categories that may or may not be present. The basic monthly net salary of regular professors at the University of Montenegro is around 1.500 euros, of associate professors around 1.400, and of assistant professors around 1.250 euros," says UCG.
The net earnings calculated in this way, they add, are subject to increases in accordance with the years of service, as well as engagement beyond the norm defined by the Collective Agreement.
"Those who jumped in the total amount are most often those who made a special contribution to the development and international positioning of the University of Montenegro through the publication of the results of scientific research work in the reference categories of magazines and publishers or based on activities in the function of teaching at UCG", concludes the reaction .
