The media center announced that it expected the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK) to find illegalities in the procedures for appointing Boris Raonic as general director of RTCG.
The press release, signed by Media Center Director Goran Đurović, states that after almost seven months, the ASK issued an opinion in the procedure initiated by the Media Center in July of last year.
"It is illusory to expect any reaction from the RTCG Council regarding the opinion of the ASK, because the majority in the Council is ready to ignore final court verdicts and commit criminal acts just to enable Raonic to continue with his illegal performance of office. The media center publicly calls on the SDT to finally initiate proceedings against members of the Council and Raonic and stop the humiliation of the state and the apparent collapse of the concept of the rule of law," Đurović said.
He adds that the majority in the RTCG Council with their decisions so far "caused damage of over 120.000 euros, which is paid by all citizens of Montenegro because Raonic has been illegally receiving earnings for almost three years".
"The following are responsible for this state of affairs: Veselin Drljević, Amina Murić, Milica Špajak, Naod Zorić, Predrag Miranović, Filip Lazović, Bojan Baća and Predrag Marsenić, who consciously and contrary to the law, some in August 2021 and some in June 2023, elected Raonic, even though they were warned by the Media Center (and other organizations) on several occasions that Raonic does not meet the requirements prescribed by law. All the aforementioned members of the Council, by their actions, have destroyed the credibility and brought shame to the institutions and organizations that nominated them for the post of members of the RTCG Council. ".
Đurović stated with the statement that the aforementioned members of the Council "should never again be given the opportunity to hold any responsible position and to be so-called representatives of NGOs, the University of Montenegro, the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, the Union of Employers of Montenegro".
"The only member of the RTCG Council who has preserved the credibility of the Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro through her actions so far is Marijana Camović Veličković. If the Law on RTCG had been changed in 2021, as requested by over 40 NGOs, we believe that Veselin Drljević, Amina Murić, Milica Špajak and Naod Zorić would never even get the opportunity to represent non-governmental organizations in the RTCG Council. If there were free representatives of NGOs in the RTCG Council, there would not have been a brutal violation of the law and the election of Raonic. All political parties that will oppose the upcoming changes to the Law on RTCG, in the part related to the process of election of Council members, will make it clear to the public that they want to maintain control over RTCG through controlled representatives of non-governmental organizations," Đurović concluded.
