The 8th of March march, which this year is being held under the slogan "It's time for justice", was held today in Podgorica.
The march is organized by the Center for Women's Rights (CŽP).
The gathering was attended by the President of the Assembly of Podgorica Jelena Borovinić Bojović and Deputy Mayor Luka Rakčević, MP Boris Mugoša, Governor Irena Radović...
Those gathered carried banners "Justice is a reflection of freedom", "A woman is a bridge to a woman", "Resist misogyny", "It's time for humanity"....
Anita Stjepčević from the Center for Women's Rights said that it is time for justice that stands above all hierarchies.
"It is time for a society that does not discriminate, does not marginalize...", said Stjepčević.
Fine artist Tanja Markuš said that for generations they have been fighting for laws that will suppress and punish discrimination.
"Today we have these laws, but justice is lacking. I wonder if big words have lost their meaning now that they adorn the speeches of many who interpret them in the opposite way. We know from experience that changes do not happen overnight..." said Markuš.
The executive director of the Association of Disabled Youth, Marina Vujačić, emphasized that women have indestructible strength and will.
"We must not forget that some of us are faced with challenges. Some of us have not been experienced as women... These women are deprived of the right to be seen as independent and versatile individuals. Our strength, resilience and love must not be diminished due to fears and misunderstanding of society," Vujacic said.
She also emphasized that no woman should be excluded from the fight for equality.
"Don't settle for crumbs. You deserve so much better," was her message.
Student Sara Jovanović said that she would like to see justice.
"It became natural for me to understand what injustice is, but not what justice is...we deserve justice".
Marija Jovanović, in front of the Spektra association, said that justice is worth fighting for.
"It's not a utopian ideal... I thought about exactly where I live and what I'm fighting for. I thought about those who are gone and almost gave up. In pain and despair, I believe that we can all find strength and courage to continue fighting. ..," Jovanovic said.
Student Alma Novalić emphasized that justice must not be a treatment.
"For me, the story of justice necessarily follows the story of injustice. I believe that there is no justice without facing responsibility," she said.
The CŽP announced that women's rights activists and all those who support justice and equality will participate in the march.
"Our mission is clear - we are marching in unison towards a future where justice is not only promised, but realized, towards a world where equality is not a dream, but a reality in which we all live," the statement said.
"International Women's Day echoes the voices that throughout history stood up to injustices and led us on the path of dignity and equality. However, this day is also a reminder of the voices that injustice has silenced and continues to suffocate, despite the changes we fought for," the statement said.
The procession moved along Slobode Street, then along Svetog Petar Cetinjski Boulevard, where it will go to the Blaž Jovanović Bridge, and then along Stanko Dragojević Street and Bokeška Street to Independence Square.
