The drug "Taxol", which is used by oncology patients, was delivered to the Medical Supply Center of the Clinical Center of Montenegro (KCCG) on Friday after a ten-day shortage.
From that health institution, they said that the day hospital of the Center for Medical Oncology of the Institute of Oncology has "paclitaxel" ("Taxol") in sufficient quantities.
"In order to avoid unnecessary crowds, we ask patients to contact their practicing oncologist according to the work schedule of the chemotherapy clinic," said the health institution.
"Vijesti" announced at the beginning of the month that breast cancer patients could not receive chemotherapy because health institutions ran out of cytostatics.
Shortages of this drug, which is used in the treatment of breast, ovarian and lung cancer, were also recorded at the end of last year.
"Montefarm" replied that during February they regularly supplied KCCG and the Brezovik Special Hospital with the drug "docetaxel" ("Taxol") and that the quantities delivered last month were even higher than the average consumption.
They reminded that for the drug "docetaxel" from the supplier that was selected through the tender process, they were informed at the end of 2023 that they would not be able to procure and deliver the drug until the end of the first quarter of 2024 due to a deficit in production.
"Montefarm" said that they informed the authorities about this and through negotiations with other suppliers they managed to acquire the necessary quantities from another authorized importer, as well as that "so far there are no delays in procurement".
