Media center: If Knežević claimed that "Cinderella" was written by Vuk Karadžić, then he continued to manipulate

If it is true that the director of the Television of Montenegro (TVCG) Milan Knežević claimed at the Council of Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG) that the fairy tale "Cinderella" was written by Vuk Karadžić, then he continued to publicly manipulate the public regarding this topic and thus compromises himself and the public media he heads, it was announced today from the Media Center.

"According to the report from yesterday's session of the RTCG Council, published on the Vijesti portal, TVCG director Milan Knežević said that the Media Center is not a great connoisseur of literature and claimed that 'Cinderella' was written by Vuk Karadžić. This was Knežević's reaction to the Media Center's recent objection to the content "Calendar" show, in which the well-known fairy tale, but also some others collected by the Brothers Grimm, were labeled as having been taken from the Serbian language, and to those uninitiated in this issue, it was suggested that these fairy tales were originally Serbian," the press release of the Media Center, signed by Dragoljub Duško Vuković, President of the Assembly of that non-governmental organization (NGO).

The Media Center also said that they are not an NGO that deals with literature, so, therefore, it cannot be a big or small connoisseur of literature, but it is interested in preventing, as far as it is in its power, that no one knowingly or out of ignorance does not mislead the Montenegrin public.

"That's why the Media Center likes to check, as it did in the case of the controversial content published in 'Kalendar', on February 24 this year, and that check resulted in the knowledge that the Brothers Grimm had taken over some of the fairy tales, including the fairy tale 'Cinderella' by Charles Perrault, a French writer born in 1628. His version of the fairy tale, of the countless that exist, including the one recorded by Vuk Karadžić, is the most famous," the announcement reads.

The Media Center said that they are interested, and they assume that a good part of the citizens of Montenegro, who finance the national public media service, to find out who prepares the content for the show 'Calendar', which, as they said, is not foreseen in the Production Plan for 2024. and who is the editor of that show and why his name is hidden from the public.

"We expect the director of TVCG Milan Knežević to confirm or deny the allegations from the report published on the Vijesti portal. If he confirms them, we would like him to reveal the sources for his claim that Vuk Karadžić wrote the fairy tale 'Cinderella'. We would also like the director of TVCG to reveal the identity the editor of the 'Calendar' show, so that we could ask him a question regarding the disputed content, to which the Media Center responded publicly," the announcement concludes.
