The epicenter of the earthquake that was registered this morning, with a magnitude of 5,3 on the Richter scale, was in the Golija village of Donje Čarađe, in Golija, Nikšić municipality.
The population of that area says that it was the strongest earthquake ever felt in Golija.
Miladin Manojlović's barn was destroyed by the earthquake, but as he says, it's a good thing that the walls fell from the outside, so the cattle inside were not harmed.
His neighbor and relative Tomislav Manojlović says that there was no "rumbling" to be heard this morning, but that the most important thing is that there were no casualties, and all the damage can be compensated.
The president of the local community of Krstac, Dragoljub Manojlović, said that the locals report that there is damage to buildings in almost all Goli villages.
"It is fortunate that there were no human victims, and there were no victims of what this people lives on, which is livestock, because the earthquake damaged many barns. From Prenka to Kazanac, there is no village in Golija where the earthquake did not cause damage on the facilities," said Manojlović.
Golija is also visited by the President of the Municipality, Marko Kovačević.
"The population of our municipality was practically united in fear of this natural disaster, which fortunately did not leave any major consequences, especially for human lives. The most damage was suffered here in the region of Golija, where the epicenter of the earthquake was, and we are responsible the local self-government decided to come here and visit the locals and point out to them the fact that the Municipality is there for them in case there is a need for some help. We will see now how much damage there will be when we visit. Our services that are in charge of the assessment will also visit harm in such occasions, so after some time we will know how much we will be able to help. The most important thing is that we are determined to help and that these are occasions in which we have to show that we are there for the citizens, that is the basis of each local self-government," Kovačević said.
He visited the "Branko Višnjić" Elementary School in Krsac, where 12 students attend classes. As a result of the earthquake, damage is visible inside the school - cracked walls, chimney.
