With the adoption of the Declaration on the reaffirmation of the national name Bosniak in Montenegro, the conditions were created to correct the injustice done to the Bosniak people by taking away the right to public use of the national name, announced the Bosniak Council (BV).
They congratulated all members of the Bosniak nation on March 22, Bosniak Day in Montenegro.
The BV reminded that March 22, 2003 is one of the most significant dates in the recent history of Bosniaks in Montenegro and represents a turning point on the way to the maturation of national and identity awareness.
"On that day, the Declaration on the reaffirmation of the national name Bosniak in Montenegro was adopted, which created the prerequisites for correcting the historical injustice done to the Bosniak people by depriving them of the right to publicly use their national name," the statement said.
It is added that with this act, the representatives of the Bosniak people clearly and unequivocally confirmed their foundation in the territory of Montenegro and expressed their determination to nurture their identity and peculiarities in its modern and democratic social reality.
BV said that this date is traditionally marked with the "Days of Bosniak Culture" event, organizing a series of events that showcase the heritage and contemporary creativity of the Bosniak people in Montenegro through the presentation of culture.
"This year, we started Bosniak Culture Days with the presentation of an anthology of poetry by Safet Hadrović Vrbički in Cetinje, which was an introduction to the event, which we will continue after Ramadan with selected programs from Bosniak creativity," said the BV.
