The media center announced that TVCG "continues to hide the unpleasant truth about the illegal director general of RTCG" Boris Raonic.
"Yesterday, the media center sent a complaint to the ombudsman RTCG regarding the omission of information about the official stay of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Dunja Mijatović, in Montenegro and her critical assessment of the behavior of the management of the national public broadcaster RTCG", reads the press release of the media center, which is signed by the president of the Assembly of the Media center Dragoljub Vuković.
In the Media Center, they believe that hiding information that the public has the right to know in the central news program Dnevnik 2 TVCG, represents another gross violation of the basic ethical principles of the journalistic profession and the standards prescribed by the Rulebook on Program Principles and Professional Standards RTCG.
"In the central news show Dnevnik 2, broadcast on March 22, there was no information that Commissioner Mijatović was in Montenegro and that, among other things, she assessed that 'the non-implementation of the decisions of domestic courts on the appointment of the director of the Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG) raises questions in terms of respect for the rule of law, which is an issue that also needs to be solved urgently." In the RTCG Rulebook on Program Principles and Professional Standards, it is said that "creators of radio and television programs violate professional standards if they hide, ignore, or put in an inadequate context ( place) information with which they personally do not agree.'), and that 'journalists and editors (are) responsible not only for what they publish but also for what they keep silent and that is of interest to the public', it is stated.
The Media Center points out that it is not the first time that TVCG avoids informing its viewers about reasoned criticisms of the management of the national public media service.
"This was done at the end of October last year, when TVCG did not publish information about the resolution passed by the Parliament of the European Union, which referred to Montenegro. That resolution contains an assessment and criticism regarding the re-election of the General Director of RTCG, Boris Raonic, after the adoption of the final judgment of the High Court, and on the occasion of his illegal appointment in 2021. TVCG then hid from the public information about a part of the EU Parliament's resolution in which "concern is expressed about the election of the general director of RTCG, which violates a final court decision". We hope that the protector of viewers' rights and listeners of RTCG, ombudsman Danijela Popović will not now accept some incoherent explanation from the 'TVCG editorial board', as she did in connection with the previous objection of the Media Center, which she rejected," concludes the statement signed by Vuković.
