The Center for Civic Education (CGE) announced that the Prosecutor's Council, acting on the complaint of that NGO regarding the legality of the work of special prosecutor Nataša Bošković, unanimously determined that she did not act legally in the prosecution of the criminal complaint filed by the CGE against the authorities who worked in the former to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MPNKS) during 2021, when that department was headed by Vesna Bratić.
They remind that the State Audit Institution (DRI) gave a double negative opinion to MPNKS - in the part of financial audit and business regularity - "which is followed by numerous and detailed explanations for violations of laws and procedures in budget management from 219.193,714, 26 euros".
"Among other things, the SAI notes that millions of amounts were paid without grounds, as in the part of transfers to public institutions (for 3.808.290,83€ there is no prescribed documentation or expenditure basis, and for 3.821.249,42€ the auditors did not find a basis for the payment of funds), as well as in the case of service expenses (from 2.405.135,63€ of the sample covered by the audit even 1.454.215,40€ is not accompanied by prescribed documentation), then that wages and contracts for additional work were illegally paid (for more than 50% of the employees included in the audit), that for most of the contracts for the provision of consulting services there is no legal basis or evidence of the results of the work of the hired persons (item for these services is over €3.5 million), that public procurement was not carried out in accordance with the law, etc., states the CGE.
They said that this NGO expresses the hope that special prosecutor Bošković will, after such an assessment and the Prosecutor's Council, "finally dedicate herself professionally to the case that she assigned 16 months ago and 'kept in a drawer until now'."
