The "Sula Radov Foundation", with the aim of preserving the legacy of the Montenegrin senator, captain and sage Sula Radov Radulović and affirming the historical, natural and cultural treasures of Katunska nahija and Koman, has expressed its willingness to donate a bust of Sula Radov to Podgorica, the capital announced.
They said that this initiative was presented at today's meeting of Mayor Olivera Injac with Foundation President Miomir Jovanović, Foundation Assembly President Branislav Radulović, Foundation Vice President Ilija Radulović and member Vesna Rubežić.
Mayor Injac welcomed the initiative, stressing that she supports all activities that contribute to the preservation of tradition and the promotion of culture, and that the capital city will be very happy to support the Foundation's future activities when it comes to the legacy of Sula Radov.
"Injac praised the activities of the Foundation, which has done a lot in the short time of its existence, and expressed her gratitude for the initiative to donate the bust to Podgorica, and that it is necessary to fulfill the formal and legal requirements in that process. On the other hand, the Capital City is obliged to consider the location where the bust would be placed, i.e. for it to be land owned by the Capital City and which gravitates to the Komans," the announcement states.
The representatives of the Foundation said that their organization is dedicated to promoting the culture of Katunska Nahija and that this initiative is only one in a series to which they will be dedicated in the coming period. As they said, the possibility of valorization of the building of the former elementary school in Komani, and additional promotion of cultural potential, is being considered.
"In this sense, they also recalled the successful cooperation with the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City during last year's DEUS and the organization of the event 'Word in Stone', and that during this year, within the framework of the Podgorica Cultural Summer, the promotion of the drama 'Sula Radov' should be organized and four Petrovićs', authored by Prof. Dr. Sonja Tomović Šundić," the statement added.
In addition, there were also talks about improving the infrastructure in the area of Koman, where the capital plans to reconstruct the local community building and connect it to the water supply network, as well as rehabilitate local roads, as well as other activities that, as they said, will, among other things, "improve the quality life and promote culture in rural areas."
"At the meeting, it was concluded that the importance of tradition and culture in the development of every society, city and state is immeasurable, and that the doors of the Capital City are open for all quality initiatives and future cooperation that will be mutually satisfactory," the announcement concludes.
