The NGO "Fors Montenegro" held workshops for employees of private companies on the importance of including their employees in the protection and rescue system, as stated in the press release.
The workshops were held by Goran Tripković, from the Nikšić Protection and Rescue Service.
"We visited a large number of private companies, which, with their knowledge, human resources and equipment at their disposal, can help in the rehabilitation of emergency situations caused by natural disasters. All our experiences that we have gained while participating in rescues in the past period, were transferred at those workshops and the employees who work in those companies were given guidelines that they can use in the event of some natural disasters caused by climate change," said Tripković.
According to him, the workshops met expectations and, as he said, give them hope that in the event of natural disasters, the entire society can make a maximum contribution "to return life to normal as soon as possible".
"Accidents know no borders, nor administrative barriers. It is very important to identify and analyze the risks and consequences they may cause through integral preparedness planning, and to assess how one can respond with one's own resources, and in which part it is necessary to request the help of international partners," Tripković emphasized.
The workshops were held as part of the project "Joint response - together in prevention and intervention in natural disasters" which "Force Montenegro" is coming to an end.
As part of the project, which aims to improve the system of prevention, intervention and recovery process from disasters caused by climate change in the cross-border area of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, certain equipment will be procured for the fire-rescue units in Montenegro that participate in the project, and the word is about 14 units.
The implementation of the project, which lasts two years, started in July 2022, and numerous workshops and trainings were organized with local self-governments, and the emphasis was placed on the preparation of planning documents.
"The key steps were presented and the most common mistakes that occur during the risk assessment, which significantly affect the preparation of planning documents in the field of protection and rescue, were pointed out. The representatives of local self-governments were also presented with the importance of including vulnerable categories in the planning process itself, because their rescue is often difficult and requires special attention," the press release states.
Trainings were also organized for operational members of the protection and rescue services, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Montenegro, as well as for members of the Mountain Rescue Service in Montenegro, in order to increase their operational readiness.
A publication was also issued that citizens can download from the "Force Montenegro" website and the "Joint Response" project, which contains all the necessary instructions, explained in the simplest way, on how to behave in some natural disasters caused by nature (earthquake, flood, fire). .
The "Joint Response" project is financed by the European Union through the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the IPA Program of Cross-Border Cooperation Bosnia and Herzegovina - Montenegro. The total value of the project is more than 590.000 euros, of which the EU provided about 490.000. The value of the project for Montenegro is about 255.000 euros, and the EU contribution is 213.000.
