More than 40 kilograms of fish were caught by 23 fishermen who participated this Sunday in the first round of the national championship in sport fishing from an anchored boat, which was organized in Bar.

He had the biggest catch Goran Boricic from the sports fishing club "Igalo" who caught three kilos and 180 grams of fish.

Boricic told "Vijesta" that this is not his first competition in Bar, where he likes to fish, so he is satisfied with the results this time as well.

"The day was a bit worse for fish than usual. I am satisfied with the result when compared to other competitors, but I think it could have been better," he said.

Boričić has been fishing professionally since 2017, when he won a medal for the first time at the club championship in Igalo. He also hopes for good results in the other rounds of the Montenegrin Cup.

Members of 12 sports fishing clubs (KSR) from Bar, Ulcinj, Tivat, Budva, Igalo, Herceg Novi participated in the first round of the Montenegrin Cup... The host was Bar Club "Pristan". Fishermen fished from eight boats, each with three competitors from different clubs. They were in their positions at nine o'clock, when they started the competition, and they pulled the hooks out of the water at two o'clock.

Then all competitors returned to the Bar marina with their condition. Some of them additionally checked the size of their fish with the judges to determine if it was up to the standards of the competition. This was followed by measuring the fish and presenting the results.

He had the heaviest single fish Dejan Sijerković, from KSR "Ribar" from Baošić, of 630 grams. He had the most caught fish, forty Radovan Popovic from KSR "Sipa" from Tivat and the weight of 2755 grams brought him third place.

The measurement showed that the contestants together caught almost 42 kilograms of fish, which, after being sorted into edible and inedible, the hosts from Bar KSR "Pristan" donated to the Bar National Kitchen, which is managed by the "Women of Bar with a big heart".

President of Pristan Bell Radević he told "Vijesti" that he was very satisfied with how the first round of the tournament went, but that the organization was not easy. Therefore, he is glad that everything went as it should and that there were no complaints from the contestants.

"We are a little disappointed with the number of competitors because there was a large number of cancellations, which, by the way, is not common at this stage of the competition and time of year. "Seven contestants dropped out, and that's surprising for us," he said.

The preparations were not easy, he said, but he was greatly helped by the representatives of the Association for Sports Fishing in the Sea of Montenegro, as well as members of his club who lent their boats to the competitors.

Radević clarified that this is the first round of the national championship from an anchored barge and that the second round, in two weeks, awaits them in Boka.

"We expected this kind of catch. There hasn't been much fishing in Bar in the past few days, but just yesterday we received information that the fish had started to work, so we were expecting something like this," he said.

Juniors and seniors fished on Utjeha

Young fishermen, juniors and seniors, competed in rod fishing from the unorganized shore on the boat Utjeha.

31 juniors competed, including two junior girls. The first place went to him Damir Papracanin who caught a kilogram and 176 grams of fish and also had the largest number of fish, a total of 24. He had the heaviest individual fish Strahinja Blacksmith from "Rumija" of 304 grams.

She had the best ranking among ten senior women Tijana Cake from Ulcinj RSK "Bojana". She caught 273 grams of fish and also had the heaviest single fish of 110 grams. Second place was taken by Tanja Stevović from KSR "Jugole Grakalić" Herceg Novi with 134 grams of fish. The third place went to him Anotinia Kascelan from RSK "Gran prix Kotor" with 130 grams of fish.

Slavko Petrovic, the president of KSR "Lampuga" from Bar, who was one of the hosts of this part of the championship, said that he was especially glad that the juniors came from different clubs and cities. Also, according to him, he is pleased with the enviable number of senior women, since fishing is often considered a "male" sport.

"Youth gathered in one place, here at our place. They have a lot of competitive spirit, who will be better, who will catch which fish, just so they don't come last. They are perhaps the most beautiful that could come to our beach," he said.

Petrović added that all children engaged in fishing lead a healthy lifestyle and that everyone, especially parents, should pay attention to these and similar activities for young people.

"When young people and children enter these waters, they cannot get out. In the same way, there is no entry into any gray waters in which the youth today, unfortunately, mostly swims. They are located in some places that are unhealthy for the body and for society. There is no such thing besides a stick," Petrović concluded.

More boys and girls wanted to come and compete, he said, but many couldn't because of commitments or because of the location, since their parents couldn't bring them.
