Although significant funds have been invested in the reconstruction of the water supply network in recent years, losses on the water supply network in Pljevlja are not decreasing and are almost at the same level.
Due to dilapidated plumbing installations, the losses are as much as 71 percent, that is, out of 100 liters of affected water, only 29 reach consumers, while the rest leaks out of dilapidated pipes.
According to the report on the company's work for last year, 3,38 million liters of water were produced, and 946.404 liters were charged, that is, about 2,4 million liters were lost from the water intake to the consumer.
The state of the water supply is also shown by the fact that last year the workers of the "Vodovod" company repaired 1.360 faults in the network, that is, an average of four per day.
Former acting director of "Vodovoda" Biljana Đondović she said that the workers of that company do everything to reduce losses, but that due to the wear and tear of the network, there are frequent breakdowns.
"When we remove a malfunction in one place, under water pressure, a malfunction occurs in another, so that these losses remain at the same level," said Đondović.
She claims that without major investments in the reconstruction of the network and state aid, a major reduction in losses cannot be expected.
When asked whether this loss is passed on as a cost to consumers when setting prices, Đondović states that the Regulatory Agency treats only invoiced water.
Commenting on this fact, the councilor of DPS Saša Ječmenica he said that it is illogical to invest large amounts of money in the reconstruction of the water supply system, without reducing the losses.
He called on those responsible in the municipality and the company to replace a kilometer of asbestos.
There are approximately 25 kilometers of asbestos-cement pipes in the Pljeval water supply system, of which less than 19 kilometers are from the source in Odžak.
In "Vodovod", they claim that in order to reduce losses, they are working on the reconstruction of the water supply network, and that the central city core has been marked as a priority for reconstruction.
They point out that in 2019-2023. year, in accordance with the conceptual project of the reconstruction of the distribution system of the city water supply in Pljevlja, reconstructed Sarajevska street, Uroša Ružičića, Boračka, Sutjeska, Zlatiborska, Mojkovačka, Dušana Obradovića, Avalska, Banijska, Sava Dimitrijevića, Vuk Karadžića, RVI, Omer-beg Bajrovića, Milo Perunicic.
In 2024, the reconstruction of the water supply network is planned in the streets 20 Novembar, Blaž Jovanović, Velimir Jakić, Salko Aljković, Vlatko Samardžić, Vardarska, Ivan Milutinović, Iva Lola Ribar, part of Milo Peruničić Street (from the intersection with Kralja Petra Street to the intersection with Omer-beg Bajrović Street) Bihaćka, Sreten Tošić, Sava Kovačevića, Dr. Slobo Dragašević (from the intersection with Šavnička, to the intersection with Višegradska Street) and Šavnička Street.
