The Kolašin Health Center (DZ) has no more staffing problems, according to the director Milan Markovic, can meet all the needs of both regular patients and those who are on vacation, winter or work in that city.

According to the information submitted to the Municipal Assembly (SO), there are currently four active teams of selected doctors for adults and two pediatricians in the DZ. In addition, there is also a radiologist, the chosen doctor for women, and one of the doctors spends half of her working time as an internist. Marković also announced that a large number of specialists are part-time in the DZ, which, he explains, has resulted in a significant saving of budget funds, as well as providing comfort to patients.

"In addition to the large number of specialists we hire from other institutions, mostly from KCCG, during 2023 we also hired endocrinologists, neurosurgeons and rheumatologists. The policy of hiring consultants from other institutions is based on the great comfort that our fellow citizens get, but on the other hand, also in the financial measure that manifests itself through savings of more than 6.000 euros on a monthly basis. That savings is created in the difference between the costs that the Fund would refund, which would be incurred if every patient went to KCCG and the costs of engaging consultants in the DZ," says the director of the Kolašin DZ.

Marković says that a special contribution to diagnostics is the constant presence of radiologists in the DZ. That specialist performs about 400 examinations per month on what the director says is a modern ultrasound machine, and the patients are often from other cities. Work on the mini-trauma center, where minor surgical interventions in the field of orthopedics will be performed, was completed last year.

According to Marković, this is another contribution to the quality health care of patients in a tourist destination. The mini trauma center is located in premises that were not in operation before.

"Putting this area into operation represents a great progress in the direction of monitoring the tourist development of Kolašin. We hire doctors from KCCG. At the end of 2023, work began on the installation of an elevator that will physically connect all three levels in our institution. Funds are provided through the capital budget. This will enable better utilization of the entire space, but above all, better accessibility for elderly people and patients with difficulty moving," says Marković's information, delivered to councilors.

The director of the DZ explains how they treat patients from the rural areas with special care. Weekly visits and doctor's appointments were organized in village clinics in Dragovića Polje, Morača Monastery and Kraljski Bari, he claims.

"The outpatient clinics in Dragovića Polje and Manastinł Morača have been completely reconstructed thanks to the funds of the Health Insurance Fund. Those two buildings are in excellent condition. The infirmary in Kraljski Bari needs reconstruction. Through a joint project with the Red Cross, our doctor visits all rural elderly households and performs basic examinations and communication in their homes," explains Marković.

He informed the local parliament that 6.102 patients were registered in the DZ, and that the protector of patients' rights received only one complaint last year, which was related to the quality of the service.
