The central event marking Europe Day this year will be held in Podgorica, the EU info center announced.
"The Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro, in partnership with the capital, organizes a large number of events, among which stand out the traditional EU Fair and the Flower Carpet, as well as the spectacular Festival of Light. Europe Day will be celebrated in seven cities across Montenegro organized by the EU and the Ministry of European jobs," said the EU Info Center.
Europe Day celebration in Podgorica
The EU info center said that all the main events this year will be held on the University square near the monument to Saint Peter Cetinje in Podgorica, on the campus of the University of Montenegro.
"With this, the EU Delegation wanted to pay tribute to young people, knowledge and science on the occasion of the jubilee, 50 years since the founding of the University", according to the EU Info Center.
In the press release, it is written that the Delegation of the EU is giving the citizens of Podgorica a concert by Marija Božović with the Band on Independence Square, on May 8 at 19 p.m.
"The concert of the popular Montenegrin singer is also an introduction to the series of events that will mark Europe Day in Podgorica," they say.
On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the student radio Krš and the Student Parliament, the EU Delegation supported the organization of a big party on the plateau of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
"On Friday, May 10, DJ Rolando (Detroit), Kid Kimi (Belgrade), DJ Stefan Bulatović Buli (Podgorica) are waiting for you. The party starts at 19 pm".
The announcement states that a day later, on Saturday, May 11, starting at 12 noon, at the monument to Saint Peter Cetinje on the University Square, the central manifestation of the Europe Day celebration will be held.
"In addition to the traditional EU fair of embassies, which presents the culture and history of EU countries, the presentation of EU programs and projects in Montenegro and partners, the Flower Carpet will also be ceremonially opened," the announcement states.
This year's Flower Carpet, with an area of 274 square meters and 18 thousand seedlings, was inspired, as they say, by the tradition of Montenegrin craftsmanship.
"You can also expect a concert by the Zvjezdice choir, a sand performance inspired by our heroine Super Zvjezdana, a fashion show of models made from recycled materials, as well as spending time with pets, outdoor chess, outdoor painting, virtual reality and much more," the EU said. info center.
They also announced that on Sunday, May 12, starting at 21 p.m., a Festival of Light will be held in front of the Rectorate building of the University of Montenegro.
"As a gift from the EU Delegation to the city of Podgorica and the University of Montenegro, the light spectacle of 3D animations and light installations will dance to the rhythm of electronic sound, which will be performed by DJ Funkella with the support of Stefan Pavićević (saxophone) and Tanja Bogdanović (electric violin)", it is emphasized.
European tour in cities all over Montenegro
The EU info center said that from May 9 to 17, the European tour is going around Montenegro, organized by the Ministry of European Affairs and the EU Delegation.
"Under the auspices of the EU4ME project and with the partnership of nine Montenegrin local governments, various activities await you from Bar to Pljevlja," say the EU Info Center.
They said that citizens will have the opportunity to participate in the reforestation of Vrsuta in Bar on May 9, in a bicycle tour through Nikšić and all-day activities on the main town square on May 10.
"On the same day in Kolašin, a day full of events awaits you on the main square, as well as a big evening concert by KUD Kolašin and Isak Šabanović, organized by EU Kutka from Bijelo Polje," they say from the EU info center.
In Mojkovac, on May 13, kindergarten children, the announcement says, organize a carnival inspired by the European Union, while in Žabljak, a day later, elementary and high school students sing Eurovision hits.
"The European tour has its stops in Berane and Petnjica, and stops on May 17 in Pljevlja on the main city square with performances by students of the music school and an exhibition inspired by European values in the gallery 'Vitomir Srbljanović,'" the announcement concludes.
