NPCG: Felling in Durmitor National Park was carried out according to the forest management plan in private ownership

The Public Enterprise National Parks of Montenegro (JP NPCG) reacted to the allegations of the non-governmental organization Coalition for Sustainable Development, claiming that the felling of trees in the Durmitor National Park was done according to the plan of forest management in private property.

"The basic role of the Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro is the protection, improvement and promotion of their most significant values, which we realize in cooperation with competent entities and in accordance with strategic documents, both Management Plans and one-year Management Programs. In this regard, it is of particular importance to cooperate with local communities that gravitate to protected areas, which includes remittances to their private properties, in accordance with all legal norms.

In order to inform the public in a timely manner, and in connection with inaccurate statements about the felling of trees in NP Durmitor, the Management of this protected area points out that all remittances of privately owned forests in the area of ​​the "Durmitor" National Park were made according to the 2023 Privately Owned Forest Management Plan no. 05 – 1370, in accordance with the Management Program of the "Durmitor" National Park for 2023, which was adopted by the relevant Ministry.

We emphasize that the Durmitor National Park Administration, led by director Pero Popović, responsibly implements the adopted programs and plans for the "Durmitor" National Park, and has complete documentation related to this case. Namely, it is the private forest of the owner Karadžić Bratislava, who was granted 20,19 m3 of gross wood mass of conifers, and Karadžić Branislav, who was granted 19,94 m3 of gross wood mass of conifers, which were included in the forest remittance plan for 2023. year in accordance with the Forest Management Plan in private ownership in the Durmitor National Park area. We emphasize that this forest has been transferred, and all the legal procedures applicable to protected areas have been followed. The same remittance was approved by the forestry inspector. It is about the III protection zone, a total of 15 trees were cut down and not 70 as stated in the text published by Vijesti.

The National Park Administration provides for inspection the Private Forest Management Plan for 2023, Decisions on the felling permit as well as the Book of remittance of trees and receipt of wood assortments.

As it is not the first time that incorrect information has been published by certain persons, which can be confirmed by the owners of all the private plots on which there is a forest in the Durmitor National Park, we hereby ask the representatives of the media to check the information and contact the Administration before publishing similar information. of national parks in order to establish the true factual situation," he wrote in the response.
