Strengthening media freedom and the safety of journalists are among the Government's priorities, Foreign Minister Filip Ivanović said at a meeting with the representative of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) for media freedom, Teresa Ribeiro.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), Ivanovic said that he was satisfied with the successful cooperation between Montenegro and the OSCE, evaluating it as complementary to the process of European integration.
"With reference to the importance of the media reform and the adoption of three media laws as soon as possible, Ivanovic reminded that the strengthening of media freedom and the safety of journalists are among the priorities of the 44th Government," the statement said.
It is reported that he emphasized the importance of media literacy and trust in the media and pointed to the inextricable link between media freedom and media integrity.
"During the meeting, the importance of free and independent media and the right to free expression as basic freedoms and guardians of democratic values were discussed, in the context of strengthening the rule of law and overall democratic development," said the MFA.
