The Directorate for the Management of Forests and Hunting Grounds announced that they filed several reports and prosecuted several persons for forest theft.
"Intensified and sudden control of the terrain continued to give excellent results in the fight against forest thieves, which represents an additional incentive to continue even stronger in the coming period," the announcement states.
"Namely, with the joint successful action of the officers of the PJ Bijelo Polje of the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management and the officers of the Police Directorate, these days two illegal fellings were discovered and certain quantities of illegally cut wood were temporarily seized, for which the persons did not have valid documentation.
"After that, in a new successful action of our officers together with officers of the Police Administration, which was carried out on May 06, 2024 in PJ Bijelo Polje, a certain amount of oak wood in metric units was temporarily confiscated from another person, which the suspect also did not possess additional checks revealed that the seized wood came from the state-owned, unorganized forest in the town of Veliki Ravan.
Also, the officers of PJ Kolašin successfully discovered two illegal logging in the GJ 'Rečinska Rijeka – Vranještica' and GJ 'Mušovića Rijeka'. During field control, the regional forest ranger discovered the illegal felling of 37 beech trees in the GJ 'Rečinska Rijeka – Vranještica', and the illegal felling of 53 beech trees in the GJ 'Mušovića Rijeka', the identity of the perpetrators was determined and a criminal complaint was submitted to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Kolašin documentation for further action," the announcement states.
Acting director of the Forestry and Hunting Management Directorate, Miloš Rajković, welcomed the "dedicated work of the officers of the Bijelo Polje and Kolašin Police Departments" and pointed out that such actions will be daily.
"We continue our successful fight against forest thieves, because no illegally cut tree can go unpunished." "I say that there is an end to lawlessness and theft in the forests and that we will defend and defend Montenegrin forests from those who want to destroy them," Rajković pointed out.
He said that the illegal use of our most valuable resource is a thing of the past and that illegal activities will surely be successfully eradicated through joint actions with the Police Department.
