The symbolism and values of May 9 are a source from which the vision of the European future of Montenegro is further refined, said the President of the country, Jakov Milatović.
Today he laid a wreath at the Partizan fighter monument in Gorica.
"Today we celebrate May 9, the Day of Victory over Fascism and the Day of Europe! On this day, with special respect and gratitude, we remember all those who unwaveringly carried the torch of the anti-fascist struggle in the dark years of the Second World War. Their work remains a universal value landmark that unerringly directs towards building a better and fairer world," said Milatović.
"The idea of a progressive and united Europe, born immediately after the collapse of fascism, confirmed its superiority in the decades that followed, affirming the right to a dignified human life and nurturing anti-fascism as a basic value of every democratic society. Bearing in mind our important anti-fascist past, as well as our the aspiration to become part of a united Europe, the symbolism and values of May 9 represent a source from which the vision of the European future of Montenegro is further refined," the president concluded.
