The Public Company for National Parks of Montenegro (JPNPCG) urged all visitors to the Skadar Lake National Park (NP) not to pick water lilies in that NP.
"With the beginning of the tourist season in NP Skadarsko jezero, a worrying trend of harvesting white and yellow water lilies has been noticed, which can lead to a decrease in the population of this species, endangering the habitat and the entire ecosystem of this park. The Public Company for National Parks of Montenegro appeals to all visitors to refrain from of these activities that threaten a vital part of the Skadar lake NP ecosystem," the announcement states.
They called on everyone to share responsibility in preserving the nature and biodiversity of the parks.
