Celebration of the feast of St. Basil of Ostrog: Thousands of believers, Joanikije led the liturgy

Thousands of believers from Montenegro, the region, and beyond flocked under the rocks of Ostro on May 12 to celebrate the feast of St. Basil of Ostro.

Many of them had walked hundreds of kilometers in their legs.

The plateau in front of the church was overflowing with tents, sleeping bags and blankets of those who had come by foot, bus or car the night before to attend the evening service.

Seternal bishop's liturgy it was led by Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral with clergy and monks, with the presence of a large number of archbishops.

Last night at midnight, in the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Upper Monastery, the akathist to Saint Basil was read, while an hour after midnight, in the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, also in the Upper Monastery, a holy liturgy was served.
