The non-governmental organization Prima announced that the reduction of the sentence of BB convicted of multiple rape of a 15-year-old girl is the reason why rape victims do not trust institutions.
The Council of the Appellate Court of Montenegro, which consists of judges Predrag Tabaš, Srđan Vujović and Vesna Moštrokol, reduced the sentence from a maximum of 15 to eight years in prison BB He raped the girl from January to June 2020, using force and threats, threatening to kill the father if he tells anyone.

"That law and fairness do not go hand in hand, once again, unfortunately, we had the opportunity to see for ourselves the actions of the Appellate Court Council...", said the NGO Prima.
They ask what is the mitigating circumstance, if it exists at all, in the criminal act of rape of a minor, which determined this Council to make such a humiliating decision.
"When deciding, were they guided by the basic postulate of the law that the court always decides in the best interest of the child? Are they aware that with such a decision they actually condemned a minor girl as not worthy of being protected and morally satisfied by the law of the state of Montenegro? Pravda is blind, but she would have to remain aware that because of these and similar decisions, rape victims have no confidence in institutions, that in the deepest silence and the most hidden corner of their being, they will persistently search for where they went wrong so that they "deserved" that their rapist be understood many times more, justified, protected and amnestied and that their daily thoughts will be self-harm and suicide and not the decision to report the violence they experienced to the authorities.
