International Nurses Day: Nurses are a pillar of the health system

Nurses and technicians are a pillar of the Montenegrin health system and are necessary for its functioning, it was announced at the ceremony on the occasion of the International Day of Nursing organized by the Capital City Health Center (DZGG).

The health institution reminded that International Nursing Day is celebrated on May 12, the anniversary of the birth of the British nurse Florence Nightingale, the originator of modern nursing as a recognized profession.

"Our institution recognizes the key role of nurses and technicians in providing quality health care, and we are proud to point out that they make up more than 50 percent of the total number of employees in our Health Center," says the announcement.

It is stated that the management of DZGG on Monday organized a formal reception for nurses and technicians of health institutions, which, as they stated, highlighted their importance in their daily work in the treatment and care of patients.

Natalija Petrić, assistant director of the Health Center, said that nurses and technicians are a pillar of the health system, necessary for its functioning.

As she stated, their dedication, expertise and compassion are irreplaceable in providing quality healthcare.

"We will continue to invest in your education and development, in order to enable you to perform your responsible tasks even more efficiently," Petrić said.

She said that the International Day of Nursing is an opportunity to thank the nurses and technicians in Mecin for everything they do.

"And to highlight your key role in caring for our patients, because the doctor and nurse/technician form an inseparable whole at the primary level of health care and only as a team can they best respond to the health needs of citizens," added Petrić.

She said that DZGG continues to support and improve the work of nurses and technicians, recognizing their important role in the health care system.

The head nurse at DZGG Sanja Đoković said that nursing represents a very important segment in the health care system.

"I use the opportunity to send sincere congratulations to all nurses and health technicians on the occasion of their day, with great gratitude for all the sacrifice and care, often risking their own health and that of their loved ones," Djokovic said.
