Reforestation of burnt and degraded areas started; Management: 19.000 seedlings were planted in Rožaje and Berane

The Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management announced that they have successfully started the planned reforestation of burnt and degraded areas, during which around 300.000 seedlings will be planted from three nurseries in Rožaje, Kolašin and Bar, in accordance with the planning documents.

The Administration said that in the previous days, afforestation actions were successfully carried out in the regional units of Rožaje and Berane, "in which 19.000 spruce seedlings have been planted so far. Based on planning documents, in the Regional Unit of Rožaje, afforestation was primarily carried out in the Economic Unit "Crnja - Ibarac", in department 61, which in 2020 was affected by a large fire in which huge areas were burned."

"On this occasion, the employees of the Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management planted 4.000 spruce seedlings, which were taken from our nursery "Županica" in Rožaje. An area of ​​6 hectares was reforested in the Sub-Division of Berane, where about 15.000 spruce seedlings were planted. from our nursery in Kolašin", says the announcement of the Management.

According to them, this is only a part of numerous afforestation actions, "which were also implemented in other regional units, and in the coming days in all other regional units, the afforestation of all 300.000 planned seedlings will be completed."

"Our goal is to rehabilitate burned and degraded areas caused by numerous fires in the past through these activities and to make additional efforts to dedicate ourselves to the restoration of Montenegrin forests in the coming period," they concluded.
