The Chamber of Public Executors of Montenegro announced today that it strongly condemns the attack on the lawyer Aleksandar Simonović.
"Due to the unfortunate event that happened in the Basic Court in Berane, when the lawyer Aleksandar Simonović was attacked and physically seriously injured, the Chamber of Public Executors of Montenegro expresses the strongest condemnation and protest regarding the inappropriate behavior of persons against whom we expect the state authorities to take all measures and actions that the same thing is punished and not repeated, and we send our unreserved support to our colleagues from the Bar Association, which we will express at today's protest in front of the basic courts," the Chamber's press release points out.
They added that they witnessed continuous attacks on holders of judicial positions, on colleagues from the judiciary, lawyers, notaries and public officials.
"It is for this reason that we expect that our society and the state will take all measures and actions so that such events do not repeat themselves and in order to provide security for the unhindered performance of the judicial profession, as well as the protection of the personal safety of actors at the judicial level. Therefore, we believe that incriminating such and similar attacks at the level of criminal legislation contributed to the establishment of a safe environment in which we work, and protected us individually, as well as the social values we strive for at the level of the entire legal system," the announcement concludes.
On May 13, Simonović was attacked by two people in the corridor of the Basic Court in Berane, and on that occasion he was seriously injured - he suffered a fractured jaw bone.
