The Bosniak Council in Montenegro welcomes the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica in the United Nations (UN), which is the world's most important international organization paying due respect to the victims of genocide and their families, the Bosniak Council announced.
"It is very significant that Montenegro, by expressing its support for this historic act, has shown its commitment to the civilizational values of serving justice and showing due respect to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica. We consider the adoption of the Resolution a historically important step in the direction of facing the past and paying full respect to the thousands of victims of the genocide in Srebrenica, which was carried out in the protected zone of the United Nations with the silence of the international community. responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica. At the same time, member states of the United Nations system, as well as other international and regional organizations and civil society, academic institutions and other relevant participants are invited to mark the International Day, including special commemorations and activities to commemorate and honor the victims of genocide. in Srebrenica'", the announcement reads.
They emphasized that the passing of this Resolution is not directed against any nation, but rather reminds of the decided facts that a genocide took place in Srebrenica, which was thoroughly and systematically organized and carried out and whose actors were convicted by the decisions of the relevant international courts.
"However, it is clear that the ideological programs according to which this genocide took place are still vital, and that attempts at revisionism are visible in the region, which requires the decisive opposition of institutions, organizations and all civilized citizens. With this act, the civilized obligation towards the victims and the families of the victims has been fulfilled In fact, the only thing the international community could do for the tens of thousands of victims and those who were killed, is to return the moral debt, through the condemnation and establishment of a permanent memory of the victims of the genocide that happened in 1995. We express our gratitude to all who supported the Resolution, as an expression of civilizational values, and full confrontation with the past, building new bridges of reconciliation, good neighborly relations and a better future for all peoples and citizens," the announcement concludes.
