Twenty years since the murder of Duško Jovanović, director and editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper "Dan", represents 20 years of the inability of institutions to fully shed light on this crime and prosecute the instigators and all perpetrators, the Center for Civic Education (CGO) announced today.

"This is also one of the measures of their failure in establishing a functional rule of law and protection of freedom of expression in Montenegro," the statement of the CGE points out.

From that non-governmental organization (NGO), they added that numerous decision-makers promised to solve this case, on occasions when they appreciated that it could be useful for them, but that there was no substantial progress.

"Apart from empty promises, regardless of all the differences, the decision-makers have a common and hostile attitude towards media workers who are not in the category suitable for them, thus continuing to maintain an unfavorable climate for the development of professional journalism. CGO once again appeals to competent public officials and politicians to stop with the instrumentalization of this case for particular interests and to move from words to actions," the CGO statement reads.

The owner and editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Dan", Duško Jovanović, was killed 20 years ago today in front of the newsroom of that media.
