With the adoption of the new Law on Information Security, cyber security and the protection of citizens' data will be strengthened, announced the Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj.
As announced by the Ministry of Public Administration (MJU), he spoke at the ministerial round table at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 Forum, in Geneva.
Dukaj said that this summit can significantly contribute to the future summit and the Global Digital Agreement in promoting an inclusive and resilient digital future in Montenegro, through the exchange of best practices and successful models of digital transformation from around the world.
He pointed out that Montenegro can use this information to improve its strategies and implement proven solutions that have proven effective in other countries.
"Artificial intelligence is becoming a key factor in the transformation of the entire global society that is rapidly transforming our lives, offering technological advances in learning, product and service design, and task automation, especially generative AI technology," said Dukaj.
He said that artificial intelligence brings both risks and challenges in, above all, security and data privacy.
Dukaj said that the risks associated with cyber attacks, identity theft and leakage of sensitive information are a major concern for every public administration.
"The government is taking steps to strengthen cyber security and protect citizens' data through the adoption of the new Law on Information Security, which is harmonized with the new NIS2 directive, and Montenegro has become the first country in the Western Balkans to do so," said Dukaj.
He also stated that there is a need for continuous education and training so that citizens can effectively use new technologies.
This, he added, includes not only formal education, but also lifelong learning and adaptation to new digital tools.
"The Digital Transformation Strategy of Montenegro 2022-2026. is the basis of the Government's commitment to the faster development of the digital society and the use of opportunities provided by digitization", said Dukaj.
He also spoke about the establishment of the Regional Center for Building Cyber Capacity, which Montenegro formed in partnership with France and Slovenia, and whose headquarters are in Podgorica in the Science and Technology Park.
The announcement states that this regional center will serve for education in the field of cyber security, cyber crime and cyber diplomacy for all countries of the Western Balkans.
Dukaj noted that in order to speed up the process of digital transformation and improve the services provided by state administration bodies, the Government and the Ministry launched the Digital Academy.
He added that it is about online education for civil servants and for all citizens who want to improve their professional, leadership and digital skills, in order to be more efficient, effective and competitive in their business environment.
"Global funds and initiatives that support digital transformation can help Montenegro implement necessary infrastructure and educational projects," said Dukaj.
He stated that Montenegro can adopt strategies and programs that have proven successful in other countries to improve the digital skills of its citizens, which, he added, is key to an inclusive digital future.
MJU said that ministers and leaders in the field of information and communication technologies from all over the world were invited to discuss the evolution of WSIS in facing the challenges of digital inclusion and present advanced strategies for shaping a resilient and sustainable information society, which can adapt to technological changes. moment.
