Bulevar Veljko Vlahovića is still unfinished, tenants announce the blockade of the roundabout

Locals Bulevar Veljko Vlahovića no. 62 in Podgorica protested today because of the works on that part of the road that were not completed in a timely manner. They announce that, if the services of the Capital City do not react promptly, there will be a new protest in seven days.

Dražen Vlahović, one of the tenants, said that for many years they have suffered "a disaster on that part of the road".

"Bulevar Veljko Vlahović started to be worked on a long time ago. We know that the contract with the contractor was suspended and terminated, and our street remained a disaster. It is impossible to pass vehicles and move around the building. We addressed all the institutions of the Capital City - both to Mayor Olivera Injac by email and to her cabinet several times with a request for a meeting, to which no one responded. Then we addressed the Roads and Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica in writing. "None of them deigned to answer us," said Vlahović.

The Agency previously told "Vijesta" that the works on that boulevard could last from five to seven months.

They said that several city companies ("Roads", "Communal Services" and "Zelenilo") "from March 12 to April 12 carried out the remaining works at the roundabout of Veljko Vlahović and Radomir Ivanović boulevards (asphalt, public lighting and horticultural landscaping ), in order to enable the smooth movement of the vehicle".

Today, during the protest, the locals emphasized that they are not willing to wait five months "because you know that tendering is very debatable."

"It can take a year or two, and we have waited long enough. Patience has betrayed us. It is time to solve 100 meters of asphalt in the next seven days. After that, there will be a new protest," they said.

During the one-hour protest, Vlahović said that they were forced to "make this mini-protest on the disputed part of the road".

"... Later, we will most likely block the roundabout at the pump, followed by the blockade of the roundabout on July 13. The capital is there for us, not us for them. How they work for us, you can see for yourself on the spot, everything will be clear to you", he said, adding that "it is unfortunate that they have to fight like this for a hundred meters of asphalt in the 21st century".

He reminded that "they are fighting for 100 meters, not kilometers".

"We expect that she will come to her senses a little, that the mayor will react by calling the directors of services that she appointed herself. That the Roads will do this part. As they say, they cannot do without the Agency's amen. So it was up to Mr. Senić and Mr. Zečević to react or not to react," concludes Vlahović.
