The Ministry of Finance has agreed to increase the value of shipments that will be taxed, which are ordered through the Internet.
"We suggest that the compromise be 75 euros". said Assistant Minister of Finance Novo Radović at the ongoing session of the Economy Committee.
Earlier, it was proposed to amend the Law on Value Added Tax so as to reduce the threshold value for commercial postal items for which customs costs and VAT are not paid from the current 150 euros to only 22 euros.
Because of that announcement, an online petition was launched, which was signed by over 3.000 people as of yesterday, and in which it was requested not to touch the border value of shipments.
Precisely because they did not pay duties on shipments of up to 150 euros, more and more citizens bought various goods over the Internet, which were delivered to their address by mail. In 2015, the citizens of Montenegro ordered as many as 277 thousand such shipments.
