In the town of Lijeska near Tomaševo, municipality of Bijelo Polje, the Skakala waterfall on the Lještanica river is threatened due to the illegal exploitation of natural stone (sige), according to the non-governmental organization Euromost.

This NGO provided the media with a video and a photo, which, they say, shows that 15 meters from the Skakala waterfall illegal exploitation of natural stone is being carried out.

Euromost said that at the invitation of the citizens, they visited this location and took recordings and photographs, and immediately submitted a report and asked the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Ministry of Ecology, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Directorate for Inspection Affairs to stop immediately, as they evaluated this crime against nature and the Skakala waterfall, as well as the Lještanica river itself.

Euromost appealed to the citizens of the surrounding towns to report all such illegal activities and preserve the Skakala waterfall and the Lještanica river, which, according to their opinion, are the greatest and most beautiful natural wealth of this area, which many in Montenegro do not even know exists.
