Teams from Cetinje and Danilovgrad won first place at the 49th national competition of Red Cross teams in providing first aid held in Kolašin.
The Red Cross of Montenegro announced that together with the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Kolašina, they organized the 49th national first aid competition for a total of 15 youth teams from 10 municipalities and the capital.
Jelena Dubak, Secretary General of the Red Cross of Montenegro, presented awards and gifts for the first three places to the best.
In the youth category, first place was won by the first aid team of the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Danilovgrad, second was the first aid team of the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Tivat, and third place was won by the first aid team of the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Kolašin.

"The state competition was preceded by competitions in Red Cross organizations at the local level, and a total of 15 teams qualified for the State competition, namely six youth teams and nine youth teams, while the team of pole vaulters of the Nikšić Municipal Red Cross Organization performed a demonstration exercise during the opening ceremony. "Bar, Danilovgrad, Herceg Novi, Kolašin, Kotor, Nikšić, Zeta, Rožaje, Tivat, Žabljak and Cetinje had their representatives at the competition," reads the statement of the Red Cross of Montenegro.
The competition was opened by the president of the Municipality of Kolašin, Petko Bakić, the president of the Municipal Red Cross Organization of Kolašin, Milan Marković and the president of the Red Cross of Montenegro, Mitar Vučković.
"The competition is an opportunity for us all to remind ourselves how important and sometimes life-saving first aid is, if we find ourselves in the right place at the right time. Also, this is an important reminder to all of us not to forget that maybe we or our loved ones will need first aid sometime and therefore, we must overcome it as soon as possible. In addition, we will check and strengthen our capacities at the local level and improve the already good cooperation we have with the Red Cross organization in our city," Bakić pointed out.
"We are especially glad that this year the competition is being held in our municipality and that we will show ourselves as good hosts and prove that our organization has the capacity to organize events both at the local and national level. First aid, as one of the most important the activities of our organization is very important to us in Kolašin, and therefore we try to raise the level of awareness of the importance of first aid through various educations for children, educational institutions, citizens, and work organizations, and educate them so that, in case of need, they can respond to adequate way," said Marković.
"Knowledge of first aid saves lives, I'm sure we've all had the opportunity to convince ourselves of this through various life situations, and precisely because of this and by organizing the 49th national competition, we draw the public's attention to the fact that it is necessary to know, learn and later, adequately apply the first help. And in order to learn first aid, the Red Cross organization can help you with this by organizing educational lectures, training in the basics of first aid, as well as more advanced ones guides, children in educational institutions and the provision of sports and recreational events, more than 8.000 individuals were introduced to the basics of first aid, and we plan that this year this number will be much higher," said Vučković.
