Achieving sustainable development through the improvement of infrastructure and ensuring a stable and high-quality water supply for all users on the Montenegrin coast is the vision of the Regional Waterworks of the Montenegrin Coast, said the president of the Board of Directors of that company, Zoran Lakušić.
He said the long-term vision includes efficient management of resources and implementation of innovative solutions that support environmental sustainability and economic prosperity.
"The goals of this Society are primarily to improve the infrastructure by implementing development projects such as the construction of new pipelines and the improvement of existing facilities, in order to increase the capacity and efficiency of the water supply system," said Lakušić in the announcement.
As he added, the goal is financial stability through maintaining liquidity and providing funds for future investments through the introduction of special fees for investments on the Montenegrin coast for high-category hotels.
Lakušić stated as goals the implementation of scientific research to determine the cause of the decline in the yield of the spring and finding solutions to improve the yield of the "Bolje sestre" spring, as well as a quality service that will ensure a constant and reliable supply of water for all users, especially during the tourist season when the demand is the highest .
He said that the priorities in the work of the Regional Waterworks will be the improvement of water supply with a focus on projects that will increase the water supply capacity, such as the construction of a new pipeline from the breakwater chamber "Prijevor" to Tivat, which will increase the capacity from 330 to 750 liters per second. .
"Then the modernization of the plant by implementing a filter plant for the purification of lake water with a capacity of 500 liters per second, which will additionally provide the amount of available water, and support for employees through the improvement of working conditions and employee rights", said Lakušić.
According to him, the priority will be efficient management of financial resources and regular servicing of obligations towards international financial institutions in order to ensure long-term sustainability and stability.
Lakušić said that the construction of a sand foundation in the bed of the Morača river in the II sanitary protection zone of the Bolje sestre spring represents a project to preserve water quality and increase the capacity of the spring, which is of crucial importance for the long-term sustainability of the water supply system.
"Projects related to the production of electricity using the potential of the pipeline system and solar sources, improving the water quality system, establishing a modern laboratory and center for video surveillance of all facilities, as well as improving the information system, are key steps towards creating a sustainable, modern and efficient water supply system" Lakušić pointed out.
As he stated, part of the projects will be implemented through the IPA programs, including the continuation of the CROSSWATER+ project, the Aqua project, which includes the renovation and expansion of monitoring stations in the sanitary protection zones of the Bolje sestre source, as well as the creation of cross-border studies on surface and underground water.
"The SA Resilient project will also be implemented, which includes further research into the source of the Bolje sestre, improvement of the hydrant network and access roads to the facilities of the regional water system," Lakušić added.
He emphasized that the goals and priorities are aimed at continuous improvement and maintenance of high standards in the provision of water supply services.
Lakušić assessed that by introducing new technologies, modernizing the infrastructure and approaching the sustainable management of water resources, the Regional Waterworks will contribute to improving the quality of life of the population on the Montenegrin coast.
"It will support the development of the economy and tourism, strengthen the resistance of the water supply system to challenges in the future and will contribute to the further development of Montenegro," said Lakušić.
