Montenegro is well on its way to the European Union (EU), said the minister for federal, European and international affairs of the German federal state of Hessen, Manfred Pentz, and added that a historic moment has come that Montenegro and the Union must take advantage of together.
Pentz, at a meeting with the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North Vladimir Martinović in Podgorica, pointed out that Montenegro will be an enrichment for the EU.
"I am convinced that Montenegro is on the right path to the EU and we want to help along the way. We are interested in tourism and our interest is to return to the trend when German tourists were the leading guests in Montenegro," said Pentz.
He pointed out that, when it comes to Brussels and Germany's role as an EU member, they want the correspondence between the two departments to continue in order to see the best way to help.
Pentz, as announced by the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North, was interested in everything important for Montenegrin tourism and the way in which Montenegro, with all its beauty and potential, can be presented to German tourists as best as possible.
Martinović informed Pentz about the current number of tourists in Montenegro and stated that according to the data, which the Ministry receives from the National Tourist Organization (NTO), German tourists are in 4th place.
"We are working hard to increase the number of tourists from EU countries through numerous promotions of the Ministry and NGOs, all with the aim of getting to know the beauties of Montenegro," said Martinović.
He added that the Government's goal is unequivocal and that it is absolutely focused on the EU, as well as that a positive IBAR is one of the indicators that they are trying to achieve good connections with the EU in every area.
Martinović emphasized that the improvement in terms of administrative and financial capacities is necessary in order to close this chapter and meet the benchmarks from the Action Plan for Chapter 27.
He recalled all the laws that were passed in the last period, as well as the future activities that the Ministry plans to implement, which are significant for tourism and ecology.
