Balkan Physics Olympiad: The Montenegrin team achieved the best results so far

The Sixth Balkan Olympiad in Physics gathered about a hundred participants from 13 countries of the region and Europe, at the Faculty of Philosophy and the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić, from June 21 to 24.

The absolute winner of this year's Balkan Olympiad was Vlad-Tudor Bolohan from Romania, while the team from Montenegro achieved the best results so far, announced the University of Montenegro (UCG).

Jovan Janković, a student of the "Slobodan Škerović" Gymnasium in Podgorica, won the silver medal (he was less than one point short of the gold medal), and students Andreja Popović and Mihailo Babić won bronze medals.

In addition to member countries of the Balkan Union of Physicists, teams from visiting countries (Austria, Kazakhstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina) also participated.

The organizers of the competition were the Association of Mathematicians and Physicists of Montenegro, the University of Montenegro and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics (PMF).

"On behalf of the organizers of the Balkan Olympiad, I would like to thank the Examination Center of Montenegro, the Tourism Association of Montenegro and the Tourism Organization of the Municipality of Nikšić. We owe special thanks to the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology, in whose amphitheater the most important parts of this year's Balkan Physics Olympiad took place," said Prof. Dr. Mara Šćepanović, a member of the organizing committee of the Balkan Olympics and a full professor at the Faculty of Arts.

The organizing committee was chaired by prof. Ph.D. Predrag Miranović, and the members are, in addition to Professor Šćpanović: Tatijana Čarapić, Jovana Bogdanović, Božidar Šoškić and Stevan Đurđević, who chaired the Scientific Committee. The visual character of BPO6 was given by Svetlana Lola Milicković.

The competition was officially opened on Friday, June 21, with welcoming speeches given by prof. Ph.D. Predrag Miranović on behalf of the host, adviser to the President of Nikšić Municipality Miljan Mijušković and president of the Balkan Union of Physicists prof. Dr. Radu Konstantinesku.

The competition ended with a ceremonial awarding of medals on June 23 in the amphitheater of the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology, and a ceremonial dinner in a hotel in Nikšić. "In the end, all participants expressed their satisfaction with this year's hospitality and organization, and expressed the opinion that this was the best organized Balkan Physical Olympiad so far," the announcement concludes.
