Ulcinj: Final asphalt by the end of the week?

Asphalting of the streets in Ulcinj, which were dug up for the installation of water and sewage pipes, should begin during this week.

He stated that the main reason for the delay in the execution of the works was the unstable political situation during May and June, when the planned rotation of the positions of the President of the Municipality and the Assembly did not take place. Because of this, a new majority was formed which has not yet taken over all functions in the Municipality and public enterprises.

"During that unstable political time, I was relieved of my duties as investment secretary for a whole month. It certainly slowed down the works, but the responsibility lies with the contractors themselves, who did not respect the deadlines. We really didn't plan to pave the streets in the narrower part of the city at the end of June because we started the work in September last year," said Karamanaga, stating that one of the reasons for the delay is the lack of bitumen in the entire region in the last few days.

Asphalting of the streets will be done by the company "Carinvest", hired by the Italian company "Spiga". The Italians are bringing to an end the project of building a fecal and atmospheric sewerage network for the settlements of Kodre, Bijela Gora, Totoši and Donja Bratica, worth around five million euros from loans taken from the European Investment Bank (EIB).

"The company 'MPP Jedinstvo' from Serbia, even though it was also late, had earlier finished the works related to the asphalting of the streets in the city, and for these needs it hired the company "Putevi" Bar", said Karamanaga.

"Jedinstvo" in Ulcinj is working on the implementation of the reconstruction project of the water supply and sewerage network, worth 20 million euros. The money for the implementation of the project was provided by a loan from the German Development Bank (KfW).

The companies will continue the work on the realization of the projects in the rural parts of the city, considering that the decision to ban the execution of works in the inner city core is in force.
