Cultural diplomacy plays a key role in contemporary international relations, because cultural activities create the foundations for more stable and harmonious international relations, and contemporary policies of cultural activities of diplomatic missions should be inclusive and open to new influences.
This was said by the Minister of Culture and Media, Tamara Vujović, during a meeting with the participants of the "Gavro Vuković" summer school of Diplomacy, in which 55 young diplomats from 46 countries are participating.
"Cultural diplomacy plays a key role in contemporary international relations, it is not only a tool of soft power, but a complex process that includes mutual understanding, exchange of ideas and values between peoples. In the contemporary context, cultural diplomacy is understood as a bridge between societies, enabling a deeper connection and common progress," Vujović said.
She reminded that, when we talk about cultural diplomacy, we see it as a field that enables the creation of authentic and lasting connections between societies.
Vujović emphasized that culture does not serve only as an instrument for the promotion of foreign political interests, but as a means of strengthening inter-social and inter-cultural ties.
"Cultural activities become a space where experiences and values are exchanged, creating foundations for more stable and harmonious international relations," said Vujović.
In her opinion, identity policy strategies in the context of cultural activities of diplomatic missions should be inclusive and open to new influences.
Diplomatic missions play a key role in promoting cultural identity, allowing different voices and perspectives to be heard and appreciated.
"Identity is not static, but a dynamic and changing concept that develops through interaction and exchange with others," said Vujović.
She recalled the importance of the Diplomatic Academy, which was also recognized through the work program of the Government of Montenegro, as an activity that contributes to strengthening the international reputation of our country.
The summer school "Gavro Vuković" has become a recognizable global forum that gathers young diplomats from all over the world and is one of the leading programs of its kind in the Western Balkans region, dedicated to young diplomats, future leaders and decision makers.
The central theme of this year's Summer School was "The Future of Diplomacy: Overcoming Challenges and Preserving Peace", and it was held from June 24 to 28 in Berane, Kolašin, Cetinje and Podgorica. They also visited Cetinje, the Ministry of Culture and Media and the National Museum of Montenegro.
During the five-day program, these young graduates had the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences with the most eminent experts, theoreticians and practitioners of international relations, including diplomats, university professors and politicians, through numerous panel discussions and lectures.
