The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management condemned the attack on the forest guard in the municipality of Berane and called on the state institutions to find the perpetrators of the attack and ensure that such incidents do not happen again, according to the reaction of Minister Vladimir Joković sent by the Socialist People's Party (SNP).
"We are concerned about their safety, we demand answers as to who are the persons who carried out the attack, and we also demand that everyone who endangers officials, forest guards, with direct threats or attacks be prosecuted," he said.
He added that "what he says with certainty" is that the Ministry will take concrete steps to stop illegal logging and ensure sustainable forest management.
"And to all those who have been unwillingly doing it so far, we say that not a single branch will be illegally cut again, not on Jelovica, but in any forest, without being held responsible for it," he added.
He pointed out that "such cowardly attacks will not go unpunished", nor that they will change anything in the attitude of the Ministry, the Directorate for the Management of Forests and Hunting Grounds, on this issue.
"Our support is with all those who work honestly to preserve nature and protect the environment," concluded Joković.
