The representative trade union organizations of the Management of Forests and Hunting Grounds sent a public and harsh condemnation regarding the attack on the forest guard from the Berane Regional Unit, which happened on Wednesday evening, when the worker was brutally physically and verbally attacked by the criminal forest mafia, during an attempt to with your colleagues, protect the forests from them.
"In addition to the serious physical injuries inflicted by forest thieves, during the attack, our worker also suffered significant material damage to the private vehicle he was using to go to the field, in the desire to prevent the devastation of Montenegrin forests in a responsible and professional manner. Trade union organizations of the Administration remind the public , and especially the competent authorities, that this is just one of a series of unscrupulous attacks and threats that our employees, especially in that area, survive. to those who obligingly worked for the Administration with the aim of safely storing illegally cut materials, daily verbal but also physical attacks and threats to our employees, constant destruction of their private property and similar heinous actions," the statement reads.
The organizations say that despite the lack of people on the ground and resources to carry out basic work, the sacrifice of employees and additional engagement outside of working hours is highly commendable because, primarily in this regional unit, they put themselves and their families in danger, and all in order to protect Montenegrin forests.
They called on the competent authorities to respond immediately and find the attackers of the worker and in the following period provide stronger support to the workers during the fight against forest thieves.
"We say that this moment should not be missed, when a decisive fight against the forestry mafia and illegal logging was launched, because such inhumane events show precisely the powerlessness and fear of the perpetrators of these crimes, and the way they act, endangering the lives and property of employees of the Administration, shows that we hit their sore spot," they said.
They appealed to the Government and all competent institutions to provide them with full support in the continuation of the fight against illegal logging and, with the additional engagement of the police, to protect our workers and enable them to feel safe in the responsible performance of their duties, because such unpleasant events must not be repeated again. .
