The snake that the team for special purposes brought out yesterday at the invitation of the Ministry of Defense from Pod above Herceg Novi is not a hinge, but a snake, they said from of the Montenegrin Society of Ecologists.
The media announced yesterday that at the invitation of a citizen, a team for special purposes went to the field and from the house, brought out a poisonous hinge snake, and that the snake hid behind the closet.
"Let's repeat for the umpteenth time. In Montenegro, the viper inhabits areas above 1.200 meters above sea level. Of the poisonous snakes on the Montenegrin coast, only the viper lives," they state from the Montenegrin Society of Ecologists, adding that in Novi it was a scum.
"Firefighters in Herceg Novi caught a cub of the four-striped snake (Elaphe quatuorlineata). The four-striped snake is not a dangerous, poisonous snake. It is a type of Mediterranean snake that is most common here on the coast and around Lake Skadar. It is usually about a meter and a half long, and it can grow up to three meters," said the NGO.
Unlike the adults, as they said, the cubs of that species do not have four stripes but dark, black tufts along the body.
"Individuals of this tuff are associated with the zigzag patterns of poisonous snakes, so this species is often identified with a hinge," say the Montenegrin Society of Ecologists.
