Thirteenth of July - The Day of Montenegrin Statehood and the Anti-Fascist Uprising was marked today with a ceremonial laying of flowers and tributes to those who fell for freedom at monuments throughout the municipality of Bar, the local self-government announced.
Bar Municipality President Dušan Raičević and UBNOR President and anti-fascist Bar Đuro Marković laid flowers at the Memorial Park on the site of the former fascist camp in Topolica.
"After that, in the House of Revolution, a letter was given to 855 Bar patriots who fought against fascist ideology throughout Europe. On that occasion, President Raičević pointed out that we in Bar remember this glorious date with special reverence and pride, because it was in The first insurgent gun against the evil of fascism has just fired," announced the Municipality.
Raičević said that the brightest traditions and foundations of the Montenegrin state are strongly intertwined precisely through July 13.
"This is the day when, at the Congress of Berlin in 1878, Montenegro was internationally recognized as a sovereign state, but also the day when, in 1941, Montenegro confirmed that it carries an unquenchable torch of freedom at all times. Montenegro has always known that the value of freedom is imperishable. a value that must be fought for over and over again and jealously guarded as the most valuable thing with which it has survived and survived for centuries", said Raičević.
In the spirit of celebrating July 13, flowers were laid on the monuments in Virpazar, Gornji Seoci, Mišići, as well as on the monument to the fallen freedom fighters in Mrkojevići, the Municipality announced.
