In Mojkovac, during the last weekend, the "Days of Nemanjić" event was held for the first time, which, according to the organizers, "revived the Middle Ages and the medieval country that existed in those areas".
During the event, the best conceptual solution (IR) of the architectural reinterpretation of the old fortification and mining settlement Brskovo was presented in Šuškovina.
The President of the Municipality, Vesko Delić, said that the realization of this million-dollar project will be significant not only for Mojkovac, but also for the whole of Montenegro.
"The construction of the former Brskov square, two churches - Orthodox and Catholic, as well as rich content that will revive the spirit of former Brskov residents" is planned, Delić said.
According to him, in addition to tourism, the project has cultural and historical importance. This, said the President of the Municipality, is also a way to determine the "historical legacy of the Nemanjić dynasty".
The President of the Municipal Assembly (SO) Marko Janketić says that "the goal of the local administration is to reinterpret and revive the medieval royal town of Brskovo, which was one of the most developed towns of the Nemanjić state in the 13th century". Brskovo, he reminded, was an economic center and a mining town where silver coins of King Uroš and his sons were minted "similar to the Venetian groschi mentioned in the masterpiece of world literature, Dante's Divine Comedy".
For the reinterpretation of the old fortification and the mining settlement of Brskova, the Municipality determined the location of Šuškovina. A seven-member commission made up of experts in the fields of architecture, archeology and history announced an international competition for IR that lasted a little over two months.
"Twelve works were submitted to the competition, while the second and third prizes were awarded by the jury's decision and one purchase was made. By the decision of the seven-member jury, the work of Ana Virijević from Serbia left the closest impression to what the competition for the conceptual solution of the Brskova replica was aiming for. The best-rated work of the architect Virijević you have it on the exhibition boards. I will remind you that until recently we didn't even know what the royal city looked like, but thanks to archaeological and historical research we managed to reconstruct that time and make a model of the city of Brskov", said Janketić.
The cultural and touristic complex, explained the president of the SO, will be built on a new location that covers 36.000 square meters, while the space under the buildings is 13.000 square meters.
As part of Dani Nemanjić manifestation, a "medieval fairy tale" was organized for all visitors. The Association for the Preservation of Old Skills and Crafts "White Eagles" showed how money and weapons were minted, how they fought with swords, and how dishes and jewelry were made.
