The Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Montenegro (ZHMPCG) appeals to citizens to respect the advice of doctors and preserve their health due to the high temperatures that adversely affect the body.

The recommendations of ZHMPCG are:

- avoiding staying outside and exposure to the sun during the hottest part of the day (recommendation is from 10 a.m. to 17 p.m.)

- regular fluid intake, primarily water, more than two liters per day

- avoiding strenuous physical activity

- wearing light clothes, protect your head with a cap or hat

- stay in cooled rooms (recommended difference between indoor and outdoor temperature is 10 degrees Celsius)

"We appeal to sensitive groups such as children, pregnant women, chronic patients and the elderly to especially follow the doctor's advice. Caution is also recommended for healthy people, because the heat has a bad effect on a healthy body. Do not leave children in parked cars," the ZHMPCG press release points out. .

The institution added that workers on construction sites are particularly exposed to risk.

"The recommendation of the Montenegrin Emergency Service Institute is to wear complete protective equipment, take frequent rest breaks and regularly hydrate (if possible, take fluids every 15 to 20 minutes). Heavy physical work should not be performed in the hottest part of the day, but in the early in the morning or in the evening," the announcement reads.

ZHMPCG said that despite the heat, they did not record a significant increase in the number of patients.

"Expectedly, the number of patients in Podgorica and in the southern municipalities is increasing, but it is at the level of last year. Medical emergency teams at the state level examine between 800 and 900 patients in the outpatient clinic every day, perform about 150 field trips and between 40 and 50 transports to the emergency center and general hospitals. We emphasize that there are not a large number of patients with sunstroke symptoms. The most common symptoms that patients complain of are chest pain, dizziness, fever, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea," they said.

ZHMPCG notes that they keep a daily record of the number of patients who need emergency medical assistance.

"If that number suddenly increases or if we notice unusual symptoms, we will inform the public in a timely manner," the announcement concludes.
