The Vice President of the Assembly Zdenka Popović congratulated the citizens of Beran on July 21 - Municipal Day, saying that this day "is an opportunity to remember all those who contributed to the development and freedom of Beran and the whole of Montenegro."
"More than eight decades ago, just a few days after the heroic events of July 13, brave people, gathered at the session of the People's Liberation Committee for the Beran section, regardless of national, religious or political differences, united their forces in the fight against fascism. Their courage and commitment to freedom, multi-ethnicity and mutual respect remain a permanent inspiration for all of us," says Popović.
He says that these values of the libertarian tradition are still the foundation of a free, modern and European Montenegro. "We and future generations have the responsibility to preserve and improve the anti-fascist ideals that are deeply rooted in the Montenegrin being," she added.
Popović said that, "just like our ancestors, honor and face must be our guides".
"Therefore, I would like to emphasize the importance of respecting agreements and coalition agreements, because they represent the basis of trust and cooperation between us," she said.
Popović, otherwise the vice-president of Democratic Montenegro, said that she hopes that the process of electing a new municipal president will be carried out with full respect for those principles, in the spirit of cooperation and responsibility.
"In this context, I am convinced that the local government in Berane will continue to work on improving all aspects of life in the municipality. The priorities must be the development of infrastructure, the strengthening of the economy, and the encouragement of cultural and educational initiatives, so that together we can build a better and more prosperous future for all our citizens", concludes the vice-president of the Assembly.
