Minister of Health Vojislav Šimun condemned the attack on the ambulance staff in Nikšić and said that he would initiate stricter measures in case of attacks on medical workers.
"I strongly condemn the attack on the medical staff of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance, which happened late last night in the premises of the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance in Nikšić. I call on the competent authorities to prosecute those responsible for this unfortunate event as soon as possible," Šimun said, as reported on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Health.
He also said that he will initiate consultations with the Minister of Justice Andrej Milović for the tightening of measures and penal provisions in the case of attacks on medical personnel through legal regulations.
"Those who stand on the frontline of health and in the most urgent situations often risk their own lives to help the vulnerable, must never be exposed to abuse and attacks of any kind," Šimun concluded.
